Robert is from Macclenny, FL. He joined the staff of Gateway in 2014. He and his wife Rebecca have four sons, three of whom are grown.
Robert has a Master of Church Music degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has over twenty-five years of music ministry experience.
Steven is from St. Petersburg, FL. He married his wife Suzette in 2008. They have three children, Adalyn, Samuel and Ezra, and are expecting their fourth, due January 2017.
Steven graduated from Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL in 2007 with a B.A. in Pastoral Theology and Missions. In 2010, he again graduated from Trinity with a Master of Ministry degree.
Steven began in youth ministry in 2009 at Crosspointe Baptist Church in Birmingham. In 2012, he came to Gateway as the Associate Pastor of Youth and Children.
Pastor Steve was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He graduated in 1978 from The College of William and Mary in Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and in 1981 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. He and Gloria have been married for 43 years and have three sons, Adam (Jill), Brandon (April) and Clayton (Erica). They have 12 grandchildren! Pastor Steve served the Lord as a full time, Senior Pastor for over 38 years. He has served the Lord as a Senior Pastor and as an Intentional Interim Pastor at churches in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Massachusetts.
Pastor Steve also served the Lord as a military chaplain. He began his military career by enlisting in the United States Army in January 1972 as a combat medic with the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1974, completed his ministerial education and was commissioned as a Chaplain (1LT) in the Virginia Army National Guard in 1986. Chaplain Thompson transferred to the Florida Air National Guard in 1992 until his retirement in 2012.
Chaplain Thompson’s participation in our Global War on Terrorism included deployments in Iraq with the 201st and 202nd Red Horse Squadrons, the southern Philippines with the Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines and the Transit Center at Manas in Kygyzstan. He retired from his military ministry in June 2012. His awards and honors include both Air Force and Army Achievement and Commendation medals and the Florida Cross.
God called Pastor Steve to minister to hurting people by proclaiming the gospel to anyone, anytime and anywhere. His heart’s desire is to see men, women, boys and girls come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ by grace through faith. His ministry focus continues to be setting an example, teaching and leading God’s people to win souls to Christ. Colossians 3:17
